Botulinum toxin poisoning

Because botulinum toxin injections can cause weakness in the affected muscles, and the toxin can potentially spread beyond the injection site, patients with iatrogenic botulism may experience drooping eyelids, double vision or blurred vision, difficulty chewing, hoarseness, and even difficulty swallowing, speaking, or breathing. Foodborne botulism symptoms usually appear 12–36 hours after exposure, but can last up to 8 days.
