I. What is Hyaluronic Acid?

Hyaluronic acid, also known as hyaluronic acid, is an acidic mucopolysaccharide. It is a natural component of the human body and possesses exceptional water-retention properties. It is currently considered the best moisturizing substance found in nature, capable of locking in large amounts of moisture and maintaining plump, hydrated skin. As we age, the amount of hyaluronic acid in the body decreases, leading to dryness and wrinkles. Hyaluronic acid injections can replenish lost substances and improve skin condition.

II. What are the Types of Hyaluronic Acid?

Based on molecular weight, hyaluronic acid can be broadly classified into three categories:

1. High molecular weight hyaluronic acid: With a molecular weight higher than 2000 kDa, it possesses excellent viscoelasticity, lubrication, and moisturizing properties. Due to its slow metabolism and long retention time, it is relatively firmer and provides stronger support, often used for facial contouring, such as rhinoplasty and chin augmentation.

2. Medium molecular weight hyaluronic acid: With a molecular weight between 500 kDa and 2000 kDa, it has the widest range of applications, including in cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, and health products. Medium molecular weight hyaluronic acid is most similar to human cells and is suitable for filling soft tissues, such as making subtle adjustments to tear troughs, temples, and forehead, effectively filling and improving facial depressions.

3. Low molecular weight hyaluronic acid: With a molecular weight between 10 kDa and 500 kDa, it is easily absorbed by the skin and can participate in internal skin metabolism, playing a role in anti-inflammation, promoting wound healing, and anti-aging.

III. Effects of Hyaluronic Acid Injection

1. Filling Depressions: Improves facial depressions such as tear troughs, nasolabial folds, and temples, making the face fuller.

2. Wrinkle Removal: Smooths wrinkles such as nasolabial folds, crow's feet, and frown lines, restoring smooth skin.

3. Shaping: Used for rhinoplasty, lip augmentation, chin shaping, etc., subtly adjusting facial proportions and enhancing facial three-dimensionality.

4. Moisturizing and Skin Radiance: Increases skin moisture content, improves skin texture, and makes skin softer and more radiant.

IV. What Precautions Should Be Taken After Hyaluronic Acid Injection?

 1. After injection, it is crucial to observe the injection site for changes in skin color, pain, blurred vision, headache, and dizziness. If any of these symptoms occur, it may indicate a vascular embolism. Inform your doctor immediately for prompt treatment to prevent serious consequences.

2. Avoid touching the injection site for 6 hours and keep it dry. Do not get the site wet for 24 hours.

3. Avoid high-temperature environments (such as saunas or facial steamers), strenuous exercise, and alcohol consumption.

4. Avoid spicy and irritating foods for one week, and avoid squeezing or massaging the injection site.

V. Who is unsuitable for hyaluronic acid injections?

Pregnant women, breastfeeding women, minors under 18 years of age; those with local inflammation or infection; those allergic to hyaluronic acid; those currently taking anticoagulants or immunosuppressants.

VI. Is hyaluronic acid injection safe?

Hyaluronic acid injections are not a simple procedure. The biggest problem is that if the hyaluronic acid enters a blood vessel, it can cause a blockage, leading to serious complications such as skin necrosis, vision loss or even blindness, and even a vegetative state. Therefore, it is crucial to have the injection performed by an experienced doctor in a reputable hospital. Never have it done at beauty salons or hotels, as this could turn a "minor cosmetic procedure" into a "dangerous one." Furthermore, these places lack the equipment and medication for emergency treatment in case of complications.

Friendly reminder: While hyaluronic acid injections are safe and effective, results vary from person to person and should be viewed rationally. Always choose a reputable medical institution and a professional doctor to ensure safety and effectiveness.
